Mastani was the second wife of ''Peshwa'' Baji Rao I (1700–1740), a Maratha general and prime minister to the fourth Maratha ''Chhatrapati'' (Emperor) Shahuji Raje Bhosale of the Maratha Empire. She is said to have been a beautiful and brave woman.〔

she was adopted daughter of Chhatrasal. She born in Mau Sahaniya situated 15 km from district Chhatarpur of Madhya Pradesh. The
